I love this newsletter I receive but as a Hartlepool United Fan, I must say that Raj Singh isn't getting any abuse from the fans.
He is a man who can't take any criticism and it's fair to say he gets it because he's ran the club into the ground with poor investment. He's a national league Mike Ashley.
He's leaving because he's bored of his project, he's not got the money and he's a Boro Fan at heart anyway
Thanks for getting in touch Christian. You will have seen that a BBC online article was the source - but I take your point. And it's good to know that you are enjoying Eyes & Ears.
I admire your researched compilation of I'm sure important N-E goings on, but to the man-in-the-street (in my case a rural south Durham one) it seems to have little relevance.
Thanks for getting in touch Tim, we haven't corresponded since the days of The QT.
The Office for Investment is mentioned in the first paragraph. And the second paragraph explains what the OfI is and does. So I don't understand your point there.
I can't spell out what UNW stands for. UNW is simply the name of the accountancy firm that hosted the event. Maybe I should have said 'accountancy firm UNW' in the way you would no doubt have done in your days as a sub editor.
But the same stringent subbing rules don't apply here when I'm trying to get as much information into as few words as possible. Today's Eyes & Ears, for instance, has more than 30 articles in a five-minute read (longer, obviously, if people choose to click on the links I have provided them with to read the original articles).
I thank you for drawing my attention to the reference to the DfI. That is a bad mistake on my part. I meant OfI (office rather than department). Now that you have brought that to my attention, I have amended the original article on eyesandearsnortheast.substack.com.
I must admit I don't understand the point you are making about the relevance to the man in the street, especially the man in the street in rural south Durham.
Are you meaning the relevance of the whole of the Eyes & Ears newsletter or the relevance of this item in particular?
The wider North East could benefit massively from multi-billion pound investment from the Saudi wealth fund. Of course there's a relevance to rural south Durham in that.
Thanks for reply, Brian, and explanations. In our local tonight, I bet the chat will be about ongoing fibre broadband shambles, or county council new plans for wheelie bins, or the digging up of a road that's just been resurfaced, or s'market prices, or dining out experiences. Yes sport (I turn off) and possibly Trump will get a mention.
Don't see the topics you cover will be debated. Yes important in certain circles and maybe one day will have a trickle-down impact on our lives.

Meaningless initials but to a certain circle:
"The *OfI* deals..." What, who?
"...the offices of *UNW*" What, who?
"the *DfI*..." What, who?
